Chapter 493
Darleen not only refrained from gossiping but even advised her not to blGerard.
Edna said, "Janet, I've known Gerry since he was a little boy. | understand his nature better than anyone. He
would never bully a girl! It must be Darleen's fault in the first place. I've spoiled Darleen rotten!"
Seeing Edna being so understanding and taking all the blupon Darleen, Jfelt quite guilty.
She had always prided herself on raising Gerard well.
This year, he topped the exams and becthe highest-scoring arts student in the entire city, earning her
immense pride.
But unfortunately, that was just a facade.
In terms of upbringing, he was nowhere near Darleen.
Apart from academics, Gerard couldn't compare to Darleen in any other aspect.
Jnow only regretted not having given Gerard, when he was still a baby, to Edna to raise.
But what use is regret now?
Jsighed, "It's my fault for spoiling Gerry! It has nothing to do with Darleen. Edna, don't blthe kids
unnecessarily in the future!"
Edna chuckled, "Gerry has always been such a good boy, unlike Darleen! That wild child!"

Darleen pouted in dissatisfaction.
Jhugged Darleen and said, "Our Darleen is not a wild child!"
Darleen's face was full of smiles, but inside she was full of disdain.
That old woman-if it weren't for the fact that the Lindsay family had influence in the city, who would want to be
her granddaughter?
After a while, Jcontinued, "Edna, the weather's nice tomorrow. Why don't you invite your mother over for a
visit? We haven't seen each other in ages."
"Sure," Edna nodded, serving snourishing soup from a thermos to Janet. "Janet, have ssoup."
Jtook the bowl and sipped the soup.
Since it was a nourishing soup, it had a mild herbal taste. Fortunately, the taste wasn't too strong, and after a
sip, she felt refreshed and invigorated.
Jfelt quite content.
Only Edna had this kind of filial piety; no one else would bring her soup so consistently for ten years.
If it weren't for this nourishing soup, she might not have been alive today.
It wasn't until the afternoon that Edna and her daughter left.
Delia saw them out.
As they stepped outside the estate, Edna said, "Delia, you should head back."
Delia glanced back inside, "Miss Edna, there's something I've been meaning to tell you."
"Go ahead," Edna replied.
Delia lowered her voice, "Remember how | went back to my hometown a little while ago? After | returned i heard
that Gerard spent ten days at
hudcrest."
Hearing the n'Cloudcrest,' a shadow of malice flickered in Edna's eyes.
What would that little outcast be doing at Cloudcrest?
He must have gone to look for Carole!
An outcast remains an outcast.
I've been so good to him!
Yet, this outcast is blind to it all.
Ungrateful!
Delia continued, "But don't worry.. Judging by his demeanor, he probably didn't find anything at Cloudcrest." If
Gerard had
discovered anything, he wouldn't be acting so calmly.
Edna frowned tightly, "Please keep a close eye on Janet. Make sure she doesn't spill anything to the little outcast.
Edna was smart; she knew that Gerard hadn't found Carole yet because he didn't have any information about
her.
If Gerard ever finds Carole...
The consequences would be unimaginable.
Delia understood the gravity of the situation, "Withhere, you can rest assured."
Edna nodded, "Thank you for that."
"It's my duty," Delia responded, then warned, "It's rush hour now, drive carefully
on your way back."
"I will," Edna said, then turned to Darleen, "Darleen, say goodbye to Mrs. Zhang."
Darleen was reluctant.
It was one thing to appease the old lady of the Lindsay family and Gerard.
But Delia?
She was just a servant of the Lindsay family.
Calling a servant 'granny'?
What was that about?
Seeing Darleen unresponsive, Edna raised her voice, her face stern, "Didn't you
hear me? Say goodbye to Mrs. Zhang!"
