Chapter 540
The receptionist barely concealed her frown. Who could she be calling?
"I'm at Reynolds Tower. Need to see you."
The woman's tone was curt. The receptionist wondered who warranted such directness.
Moments later, she watched in shock as the executive elevator whirred into action. The doors opened and
Zachary Reynolds himself strode out, heading straight for the woman, his pace quickening. "Sasa, what brings
you here?"
Sarah didn't return his warmth. "Your office. We need to talk."
In his office, Sarah fixed him with a disapproving look. "Mr. Reynolds, | don't know what you're thinking, but | do
know you care about Mia. If you care so much, you must realize my therapy is what's best for her."
She couldn't understand why he'd suddenly stopped her sessions with Mia, but it had to be connected to Mia's
buried memories.
Zachary looked at her helplessly. "Sasa, it's not just my decision. It's
Grandfather's too. I'm sorry."
Sarah stared at him in disbelief. "So because of your grandfather's opinion, you'd take her away from the
treatment you know works best? Just because of what he thinks?"
No, that didn't sound like him.

"Sasa, Grandfather's worried about Mia. He's brought in dozens of therapists-"
"And has any of it worked?" Sarah cut him off.
Zachary fell silent. He knew perfectly well no number of therapists would help Mia. He ached for his sister, but he
couldn't risk Sarah pushing him away completely.
"How many female psychologists have you hired?" Sarah demanded, her voice sharp and cold.
Zachary's lips pressed into a thin line. He shook his head. "None."
Sarah's eyes flashed with anger. "Zachary, even if you don't understand psychology, you should at least know
why Mia keeps having these violent episodes. It's because of the kidnapping. She can't even look at a man
without trembling-how could you not realize that?"
Zachary's fingers trembled slightly. "I..."
"You wouldn't know," Sarah cut in icily. "Because you're not the one suffering. You and your grandfather think
that throwing the best doctors and treatments at her will magically fix everything. But you never stopped to ask
what Mia actually needs what she fears."
Zachary's hands clenched into fists.
All this time, his focus had been on keeping Sarah from uncovering the truth about so many other things-he
hadn't once considered this.
A heavy silence fell between them. His chest felt tight, his pulse heavy in his ears.
Then Sarah's voice broke through again, colder, sharper-like a blade.
"You didn't even know she was hurting herself, did you?"
Zachary's world tilted. The words landed like a punch, muffled yet razor-sharp. His throat went dry. "...What?"
Sarah's laugh was hollow. "Self-harm,

Zachary's face drained of color.
He felt the breath leave his body, the words crashing into him with the force of his own negligence.
In his relentless focus on the Wilson

on the Reed web Se bdwer

person who needed him the most.
His voice was hoarse when he finally spoke, thick with guilt.
"You're right. I... failed her.” His jaw
tightened. "I'l dose pce om
