Chapter 1775
The men exchanged uneasy glances, hesitating for a moment before reluctantly mumbling, "Sorry," to Karina.
Wilfred watched their retreating figures with thinly veiled disgust.
Turning to Karina, he asked gently, "Are you okay?"
Karina shook her head lightly, brushing it off. "I'm fine, Dr. Wilfred. Thank you."
Wilfred let out a soft sigh. "Cwith me. You shouldn't be working here."
Karina nodded, following him out of the private room.
Wilfred guided Karina through the bustling bar. The pounding music and chaotic chatter seemed distant and
muted, fading into the background as they moved. They made their way to the parking lot, where Wilfred
opened the car door, carefully helping Karina into the passenger seat before getting in himself and starting the
engine.

As Karina buckled her seatbelt, she turned to Wilfred with a look of curiosity. "Dr. Wilfred, didn't you say you had
things to handle at the hospital? How did you get here so quickly?"
Wilfred kept his eyes on the road, his tone calm yet firm. "Even while | was at the hospital, | couldn't stop
worrying about you. | had a gut feeling something might go wrong.
"So, | wrapped up my work as fast as | could and rushed over. Thankfully, | cin time. Otherwise, tonight
could've ended very badly for you."
A wave of warmth surged through Karina's chest, mixed with lingering fear.
"If it weren't for you," she admitted, "I don't know what | would have done. | was so scared. They wouldn't even
listen to me."
Wilfred's brows furrowed slightly, a flicker of concern and anger passing through his eyes.
"You shouldn't be working in a place like that," he said firmly. "It's too dangerous-too unpredictable. But don't
worry, this won't happen again."
Karina bit her tip, lowering her gaze.
"I didn't have much of a choice. | needed to save up quickly to cut ties with the Stone family. | thought if worked
hard enough, | could handle it on my own, but | didn't expect so much trouble."
Wilfred reached over and gave her shoulder a reassuring pat. "I'll help you deal with the Stone family. You don't
need to put yourself in harm's way like this. As for the money I've already sorted it out for you. Focus on
returning to the hospital That's where you belong."
Karina looked at him, her eyes welling up with gratitude. "Dr. Wilfred, why are you so kind to me? I'm afraid I'll
never be able to repay your kindness."
Wilfred turned his head slightly, his
deep eyes meeting hers. "If you
really want to repay me, then go back to the hospital. That's the best place for you. You have talent and passion
for medicine. You shouldn't waste yourself in a place like that bar."
Karina nodded softly, determination replacing her earlier hesitation. "I understand, Dr. Wilfred. I'll go back to the
hospital and work hard. | won't let you down."
Wilfred smiled faintly, satisfaction evident in his expression. "I believe in you."
The car fell into a comfortable silence as Wilfred drove toward Karina's apartment. The night seemed calmer
now, and Karina found herself stealing glances at Wilfred's focused profile. A subtle wave of emotion rippled
through her heart.
She had never expected someone to stand up for her so decisively during her darkest moments.
Before long, the car cto a stop outside her building.
"We're here. Go inside and get srest. I'll make sure someone handles the loose ends at the bar tomorrow.
You don't have to worry about a thing."
Karina turned to him, her gratitude shining through. "Thank you, Dr. Wilfred. Please drive safely and get some
rest yourself."
She stepped out of the car and stood by the curb, watching as Wilfred's car disappeared into the night.
Turning toward her building, she walked inside, her mind still replaying the events of the evening.
