Chapter 986: "Hadley?" Suddenly, voices rang out up ahead. "Over here! Someone's here!" Denver looked up. Firefighters were rushing toward him-Phillips among them.

Phillips did a double take. "Mr. Moran?!" Then he saw who Denver was carrying. His expression shifted.

Hadley... Denver had found her.

Without wasting a second, Phillips stepped forward. "This way! Con-bring her out!" "Hurry! Get them out!" he called, urging them on.

Outside, a Bentley screeched to a halt, barely stopping before Eric flung the door open and jumped out.

"Mr. Flynn!" Xander ran over to meet him.

Eric's face was taut with tension, his breath ragged. "Where is she? Have you found her?" "She's been found!" Xander answered quickly, phone still in hand. "Phillips just called. They're bringing her out now!" Eric's eyes widened with pleasant surprise. "She's... she's alive?" Heaven knew how tormented he felt on the way here.

"Yes!" Xander pointed toward the fire truck. “There—see? That's Phillips." Several figures stood silhouetted in the lift's glow.

Eric's heart pounded as he moved forward.

Hadley had been found-saved! Relief swept over him, overwhelming and dizzying. But then, as the lift descended, his expression darkened.

☐☐tist chiptors in gl.☐☐☐ Why was Denver there? And... was that Hadley on his back? Eric's eyes narrowed at Phillips, who gave him a reluctant nod.

It was Hadley. And she had been saved by Denver.

As the lift cto a stop, Eric rushed forward, finally seeing her up close.

She was small on Denver's back, her face streaked with soot, flushed from the heat, her eyes shut tight. Eric's heart twisted painfully.

He had cas fast as he could, but it hadn't been fast enough. He reached out, wanting-needing-to touch her, to make sure she was real. "Hadley..." But before his hand could reach her, Denver stepped aside, keeping a protective grip on her.

"Eric," he said calmly, his eyes hard. "We don't know how badly she's hurt. It's better not to move her unnecessarily-don't you think?" Eric's gaze sharpened, a storm of disbelief and fury swirling within him, though words eluded his grasp.

After a fleeting exchange of glances, Denver, cradling Hadley in his arms, brushed past the Waitiim and dashed toward ambulance. Without a second thought, Eric sprang into action, trailing closely behind.

"Doctor!" Denver called out as he reached the vehicle, carefully lowering Hadley onto the ground. The e medical team swooped in, wheeling a stretcher forward, fitting an oxygen mask over her face, and swiftly hooking up an IV line. "How is she?" Side by side, Denver and Eric peered at Hadley, her eyes sealed shut, their chests tight with dread as they voiced their shared concern.

"Carbon monoxide poisoning-she needs more than just the mask! She's slipped into a coma and is in shock. We've got to act fast to stop brain. swelling and get her to the hospital now!"
