Chapter 1479:
Maybe it was the alcohol. Maybe it was something deeper, something raw. “I need to lean on your shoulder for a
second,” Nyla said softly, her voice trembling.
“Not happening,” Jessica replied immediately.
“Just for a little bit,” Nyla murmured, her nose stinging. She sounded like she might cry.
Something felt off. Jessica's expression changed. “What's going on?”
“I'm drunk, and | can’t walk properly,” Nyla admitted. Her voice was hoarse, but her words felt incomplete. “It’s
just us three girls left in this room. If you don’t come, srandom men might take us away.”
Jessica sighed, long and deep. She really didn’t want to go, but she couldn't ignore it either.
“Are you coming or not?” Nyla asked, her voice breaking slightly at the end.
“Your level of annoyance is record-breaking today,” Jessica muttered under her breath. “Wait there.”
She hung up and turned to Melvin. “We need to go back.”

shown up, the guilt would weigh on her for ages.
Nightclubs could get wild in an instant. Nyla and her two usual sidekicks looked gorgeous. If any of them got
blackout drunk, it would only take a moment for trouble to find them.
Melvin looked genuinely confused. “What are you getting at?”
Jessica replied, trying to make sense of it herself. “Nyla wantedto pick them up. That's all.”

Over the years, Jessica and Nyla had gotten into more petty arguments than she could count. They could barely
go a week without sback-and-forth. Despite Nyla’s habit of clubbing with her friends, she had never called
Jessica for a rescue. Tonight was completely out of character.
Nyla waited in the private room, still unsure what had possessed her to ask Jessica for help in the first place. She
just felt like seeing her.
