“What's wrong?” Melvin asked, noticing her change in expression.
“Someone said | was pretending to have a boyfriend,” Jessica muttered, pouting.
“Don’t bother with it,” Melvin said smoothly. “We know it’s real between us. That's all that matters.”
“No way,” Jessica shot back, her voice sharper now. “She’s been flaunting her relationships ever since she

Before, she had always laughed it off. But now, she wasn’t letting it slide. Not this time.

Jessica was still weighing that when another call cin. It was the woman who had sent her the messages.
She answered, putting the call on speaker right between them.
“You actually got a boyfriend?” the woman teased.
“Obviously,” Jessica answered coolly.

“Nthe place,” Jessica said, not flinching. Sometimes she couldn’t be bothered with them. Avoiding them

“You pick. Anywhere is fine. Just make sure your star-boy boyfriend's there,” the woman added, clearly amused.
Jessica opened her mouth to suggest something, but Melvin beat her to it. “Amara Kitchen.”
Jessica’s head snapped around. She blurted out, “No.” Why should they enjoy such a nice spot? They didn’t
deserve that much.
“That your boyfriend?” the caller teased again. “Good taste. Amara Kitchen’s definitely top tier.”

“Perfect.” With that, the call ended.
Jessica didn’t even get a chance to argue before the whole thing was set. “Are you out of your mind?” she asked,

“To back you up,” Melvin said, calm as ever.
