Chapter One Hundred and Twenty Four
| had been on my way to Axels‘ apartment when walked right into my mother, she must have been waiting for
me. | took a turn, trying to avoid her; she was the last person | wanted to see, but I felt her firm grip on my
hands.
“Please, Riley, let's talk,” she says.
Talk? What's the point? We've been talking and it led to more problems, perhaps it was best | avoid chatting with
her, this way she could keep her secrets to herself.
“I do not need to talk to you right now; letgo,” | said. My voice sounded so cold, | almost didn’t believe it
cfrom me. She finally letgo.
“You were right, | didn’t want you with him, | was never okay with that and so | knew telling you the truth would
end what you both had, if only | knew how bad | was hurting you in the process. | acted selfishly but I think |
have a solution.” she says, her eyes sincere.
“No,
you don’t; the only things you can cup with are more problems, and | am fed up. | am sick and tired of you.”
“Hearout. | read about this thing called a DNA test; the healers could do that; maybe you should check...”
she speaks on, but | cut her off.
“So does this mean you are unsure about my relationship with...” | paused, noticing we were out in the open,
and | couldn’t say more than that.
“No, | am sure.”
“Then what is the need for that?”
“I thought...”
“Stop alright. When | said | didn’t want to see you for slong, long time, | meant it. | need space, | need time
away from you, and that is the least you can do forright now.”

When | walked away, she didn’t follow afteror try holdingback.
| wanted a DNA test so badly; maybe the result could cout false, but then my mother wasn’t lying. What
exactly was the use of putting my hope in a test that would cout positive?
| hesitated for a few seconds before knocking on the door to the Axel room.
A female with beautiful red hair opened the door
“Oh. Good day, Luna,” she says with an awkward bow; she wasn’t expectingin the least.
“Uhmm, hi. Is Axel in?”
“Oh, yes, he is,” she says, leaving the door open so | could walk in. | contemplated just ditching this and going
for a completely empty room; | could stay there for a while.

“Riley,” Axel called the moment he saw me.
“Am | interrupting something?”
“No, | was just about leaving,” the red-haired girl said before exiting the room and leaving us
alone.
First it had been Gloria; when | saw her with Axel, | felt so jealous; Axel had broken things up with her just to
please me, and then what did | do after that? | walked away; | went back to Thane. If this was his new girl, then |
was going to have to deal with it.
“Riley,” Axel began. “Nina is my cousin,” he says as if reading me.
“Oh. Oh,” | was actually relieved to hear that. “I thought...”
“I know what you thought; it was written clearly on your face.”
wwas it that obvious?”
Axel chuckled. “It wasn’t,” he says, and | hope he wasn’t just saying that for my sake.
“I never knew you had a cousin,” | said to Axel.
“I do, though in the spack, | rarely see her.”
“I don’t think | gave her a good first-timpression,”
“You shouldn’t be worrying about that, Riley, so tell me, why are you here?”
“I was wondering if | can stay here for stime.”
“Stime?” he questions
“Maybe a few days, a week, a month... | don’t know.”
“You told him,” Axel says, and | nod. “How did it go?” he asked.
“|... I don't know. Maybe | was asking
for too much; maybe this is all mH
